Weaver Creek Ranch

Our Ranch

WCR Full Tan No Background.png

We are a small registered Katahdin sheep producer located in the small community of Weaver, Texas (12 miles east of Sulphur Springs and 85 miles east of Dallas). We founded our ranch on a philosophy of healthy land and healthy, productive livestock. Our goal is to regenerate our own land and the land of those we lease from while we raise quality sheep that provide value to our customers.

We utilize rotational grazing with electrified polywire fencing and step-in posts for optimal flexibility of land use. This allows us to fine-tune our grazing and utilize our land resources in a way that maximizes the benefits to the land and the livestock.

Our Philosophy

We raise our sheep entirely on pasture with portable electric fence and portable water. Our sheep are low-input both in terms of producer labor and supplies such as feed and medication. We value parasite resistance, hoof condition, and ability to perform well on grass without grain supplement. They are expected to birth and raise twins on pasture with minimal assistance. Our sheep are docile and easy to handle. We don't sell any registered stock we wouldn't be willing to retain in our own breeding flock.

We utilize regenerative rotational grazing practices to improve and maintain the health of the land we graze. Part of the value of our sheep is their ability to help us build the value of our own land and the land we lease for grazing. We use a minimal-input grazing system consisting of temporary electric fencing and hauled water in portable troughs to give us fine control over our grazing management.
